I am def glad that it's finally the weekend. I'm excited to see leah and to get some rest. I've been kind of been lagging a little this week and haven't been able to figure out what the deal is. I guess i've not be able to catch back up from playing halo 3 until 3am on tuesday morning...
oh yeh about halo 3... it seems to have been causing a lot of problems in the gaming community lately with reports of scratched disks, disk read errors, a game save bug and even the dreaded red ring of death. I am sad to report that I was a victim of the red ring of death, but whether or not it was caused by halo 3 is unknown to me. I played the campaign for about twenty minutes and had just loaded my first multiplayer game on live when it crashed the first time. I kind of freaked out, but restarted my xbox hoping everything would be fine. Things were fine for a while, but then it shut down again. This happened two more times before i decided to just go to bed and try it again in the morning.
I woke up the next morning and didn't really feel like playing multiplayer, so i figured i'd try the campaign again. I played for about twenty minutes, got to a cut scene and it crashed again. I turned the xbox back on, got to the first halo 3 logo / loading screen and it crashed again. At this point i figured since i had the best buy replacement plan i'd just take it in and upgrade to an elite. Since I've been home with the new xbox i haven't had any issue whatsoever and have played for a couple of hours each day since. On tuesday a friend of mine played for about an hour and a half on the campaign and since then I started the campaign on my profile and have played for about twenty minutes.
So for the moment I think i'm okay on the whole xbox red ring of death thing, but i'm not going to lie, i'm a bit apprehensive to play the campaign. I'm not really too worried though since I still have the replacement plan and can get another xbox if i have any other issues.
I've been skimming the forums and it seems that there are multiple things that could be causing the issues, but to me it seems to be a programming issue. Then again it could be an issue with older xboxes, it's been kind of rare that people have said how old their xbox was and the few who have said their's was purchased in 2006. Mine was purchased in Feb so it was probably manufactured in 2006.
I'm not really sure what to think. I guess i'll keep playing and get a new one should halo 3 kill this xbox.
